My jeep loses power going uphill on any grade and any distance. I have 4.56 gears and a cold air intake and even have it on a 87 octane tune. When I shift up I will still lose some speed. Can anyone tell me what is wrong.

Sounds like a number of things have been done to the vehicle, making it hard to make a guess.

One thing that probably isn't related but a point few realize is your cold air intake. Depending on what type of filter you are using you may be interested in this video from Project Farm. High performance filters like K&N have no place on a jeep that are on dusty dirty roads or trails.

Okay thanks, but my jeep doesn’t see much off road at all.

The point is that if you drive through a cloud of dust or down a gravel road, some of that is going right through the filter. Those things are horrible for the long term health of the engine. Not sure about cold air intakes across the board but K&N stuff is a bad idea.

Anyway, a quick google sear presented these options. Hope you figure it out.

Brad34, have you figured out what is going on with your jeep? Is the traction control light coming on?
im having a similar issue.

I do believe my catalytic converter is clogged. I don’t have a traction control light coming on. I’m going to replace my cat and see if it helps.

Check to see if your hood insulation is covering the intake on your air intake, 2 members have found that to be there problem on there Jeeps with the Factory intake. It will choke off the air going into the intake and then cause a problem like you have.
